Job Description:
Manhattanville University is seeking an adjunct professor to teach Fundamentals of Psychology and/or Lifespan Development for Nursing (Fall 2024 semester: September 2 - December 19). These courses must be taught in-person. Please note that if the Fall semester is successful, there will be the possibility of future employment. Candidates may apply to either or both courses.
Course Descriptions:
PSY.1004 Fundamentals of Psychology
This course is designed to introduce students to the major ideas in psychology. Prior knowledge of psychology is not expected. Topics include the history of psychology, sensation and perception, brain and behavior, learning, memory, and cognition, as well as developmental, personality, and social psychology, and psychopathology.
PSY.1100 Lifespan Development for Nursing
This course examines the interdependency of various areas of human development, physical, cognitive and socioemotional, that contribute to shaping one's life. It provides an overview of the impact of context and culture on the eight stages of development, while exploring milestones and changes across the human lifespan, from conception to death. Research methods and key developmental theorists are integrated throughout the course, as well as the study of the diverse selection of theories in the field. This course includes discussion of the lifespan perspective as an integrative approach to human development.

Education: Graduate degree in Psychology
Experience: Previous teaching experience.
Physical Requirements: None.
Salary: $3,375 - $3,675 per semester
Hours Expectation:
Teaching time: 2.5 hours/week
Office hours: 2 hours/week
